I have an iPad Pro 11” m4 (2024) and I’m having the following issues with the Pencil pro’s connectivity and functions after the 18.4.1 update:
-Double tap no longer seems to work
-Pencil will not link in Find My
-Pencil Battery showing as low in Pencil settings when it’s not (intermittently)
-Squeeze and Double Tap options not showing in settings (intermittently)
I am new to the iPad experience and have only had it for a week, so I may not have tested all of the available functions. I have been using it for work, mostly with the One Note app and until today, the double tap “switch to eraser” function was the slickest thing I’ve ever experienced with a writing tool. I got so used to it that when it stopped working, it disrupted my work flow significantly as I was consumed by troubleshooting.
What’s I’ve tried:
- Turning the iPad on and off several times
- Cleaning the magnetic and charging area
- Resetting all settings, Bluetooth, and network settings
- Forgetting and reconnecting the Pencil Pro multiple times
- Toggling Pencil Pro settings and pencil gesture settings
- Testing another Apple Pencil Pro on my iPad (same issues except the double tap function worked ONE time, then longer worked)
- Testing Pencil Pro on the new iPad Mini and having the same issues
My girlfriend just got the new iPad mini with a Pencil Pro so I’ve been troubleshooting with all of our devices and the issues are consistent across both iPads and both Pencil Pros.
Outside of the issues I listed, the Pencil Pros and iPads seem to work fine. I think AkerkeZ is right, there must be a fundamental issue with the connectivity. I’m excited for this issue to be resolved.
