How to choose best device as Hub for HomeKit

I'm setting up HomeKit to control various devices in the house, and I see that I can either let the Home App automatically select which device will be the Hub, or I can manually select one.

Am I better off letting Home App select it? If I wanted to manually select one, what are the criteria t choose the best one? Is one device better than any other? Do I want the most centrally located, or the latest model? (etc.)
