Check the volume setting slider in the Music app.
You'll find it at the top right corner of the Music app toolbar. The application volume can be changed with command-▲ or command-▼
That volume setting may be made independently of the volume controls on the top row of the Mac keyboard.

I’ve gone to settings/audio and internal spkrs. is on. I’ve gone to midi in utilities, and that checks that the spkrs are on. When I click to play a tune, the line registers that it’s playing, and no sound, no matter what I’ve tried.
Thank you B.J. Johnson, it worked! I’ve spent hours, in settings, no mutes, internal spkrs. on, and nothing, until your excellent procedure has worked. Thanks again, made my day. Hope someday I can reciprocate. Be well.

Did you accidentally press the Mute key? Check System Settings > Sound and see if Mute is checked.
Dear dialbrain,
No, all instances of mute have been checked. B.J. Johnson gave me what worked, cmd and arrow up. It worked! Thanks for your reply.

You're welcome, my friend. 🙂
You're welcome. Glad it's sorted. I should have asked what app you were listening to.
Again, much thanks.
