Google Chrome for Mac OS 10.15 will not stay open

Greetings,

I left my iMac that uses Mac OS 10.15 on today, and when I returned to the computer there was a message noting that 'Chrome did shut down correctly.' Now, Google Chrome will not stay up. I have cleared the cache; restarted my computer 1000 times; uninstalled Google Chrome from the Library folder and reinstalled; and reset my setting on Google Chrome but nothing seems to work.

Has anyone had this problem, and if so, what was your fix.

This seems to be an issue with syncing to the google account. This is what worked for me. Turn off sync and chrome will stay open.

Turn off wifi

Open Chrome, it should stay open now

click on your user profile icon in the upper right corner

click on the "sync is on" in the menu

in the settings page that opens click the "turn off" button next to your google user profile

click "turn off" in the dialogue box that opens

now you can turn wifi back on and Chrome will stay open. Your activity (history, bookmarks, passwords, autofill, etc) will no longer sync with your google account or other devices. I suspect this is google making changes to the profile security that our outdated chrome cannot handle. I doubt there will be a fix for this.

Also, if you experience a website compatibility problem with Chrome (which now requires macOS Big Sur 11 and higher), you may want to try Firefox.

Thank you so very much for your response. You are spot-on regarding this being a 'scyching' issue. I had to create another google profile and then turn sync off. So far, so good.

This is definitely google's way to force everyone to an OS that supports their latest version.
