I'm using Mac OS 10.14 Mojave with my Samsung Laser Printer M2020.
If I upgrade to OS 12 Monterey, will the printer still work without my having to upgrade the printer driver?

At least according to the support page at https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/samsung-xpress-sl-m2020-laser-printer-series/16462592 (Samsung printers are now part of HP), there is a printer driver for macOS 12 Monterey.
Whether an existing driver can be used or not would be experimental, but you should probably expect a new driver to be needed.
