How to import links into Safari

I wish to import a link (or file?) from my old iPad to my newer model. It apparently contains the open tabs which did not transfer over automatically.

The screenshot shows the open tabs on my old iPad and it appears that I can copy the links. Where does that file land please and how can I 'install' it on my new iPad running iOS 18.4, so that it makes sense to Safari?

This is holding me up on my research project, which I need to complete asap. Thanks for any help.

Hello ontravel2,

The Copy Links functionality copies the website links to the clipboard (the whole 158 of them.) You cannot paste those links in Safari but you can paste them in an email (and send it to you). I admit that this is not very convenient as you would then have to open each individual link from the email on your new device.

Another option would be to create a Tab Group for those 158 websites: Organize your tabs with Tab Groups in Safari on iPad - Apple Support.

If you use Safari synchronization on iCloud (Settings > [your name] > iCloud), it is possible that the tab group will be synchronize on your new device.

Otherwise, share the Tab Group with yourself: Share Tab Groups and collaborate in Safari on iPad - Apple Support.

Hello 6x6,

Well I tried so many things, but I think it was this step which actually worked:

"Another option would be to create a Tab Group for those 158 websites: Organize your tabs with Tab Groups in Safari on iPad - Apple Support."

So far, it looks good. Thanks a million. I thought I would never find a solution, as the copy links function does only that, but it was impossible to import the resulting rtf file into Safari with the "Import" command in Safari settings.
