Monterey ios Music files stored on too many iTunes and Apple Music folders

I have Monterey iOS 12.7.6 on my Mac mini 7,1.  which I moved over all the iTunes music from an old iMac.  Since then have added additional music from both downloads and cds.  As a result, the actual music files (mp3 and  m4a) are located all over the local drive.  When I use Finder to search for folders called Music, I find 4 specific folders called "Music" for example:  <username>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Music/Music.  Here is the default path for adding new music:  "/Macintosh HD/Users/<user name>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music.

Can I change this default path, then in the Music app select Organize Library - Consolidate files??  I understand this process puts a copy of the actual files in the new media folder.  I do not need to keep the old playlists, but just want all the music files in one place, where I can create new playlists and delete music I no longer need (i.e. added by my teenagers).  Or, can I use an app called Tune Sweeper to do this??  Help!!

Mac mini, macOS 12.7

See Managing your Mac media libraries - Apple Community for general post-iTunes advice. Space permitting I would recommend setting Music to use the default media path of ~/Music/Music/Media and consolidating, after which anything outside ~/Music/Music can be archived or discarded. Consolidation preserves playlists, ratings, play counts, etc. but makes new copies inside the media folder of anything that is found to be located outside of it.
