How do I fix loud ringing/static noise during FaceTime calls on iPhone?

When I am on a FaceTime call sometime during the call my audio cuts and I just start hearing a loud ringing/static noise. It doesn’t stop till I cut the call. When it happens with my AirPods in then the other person can’t hear me anymore after that

Phone mutes other person when speaking on Facetime Regardless of when using airpods / speaker so that when I speak and the other person starts speaking too, I cannot hear them. The other person does not have this same problem. Previously this question was posed and the solution offered was noise cancellation under Accessibility > Audio/Visual but this no longer seems to be an option on latest software.

FaceTime mutes the other side when I speak? when FaceTiming if I speak, laugh or there’s any noise from my side the other person is automatically muted while the noise is happening and for about 2 seconds after, I’ve tried the noise cancellation setting but it’s not fixed it, I’m on an iPhone 12 Pro Max it’s running an up to date OS.
