I have multiple duplicate contacts suddenly. The look for duplicates (when it was showing - it’s disappeared) found only one. They are all duplicated.
How do I merge these? (See pic) why are they all separate. I want ONE contacts list available to all apps.
I had to download Authenticator for a school/work thing is this the problem? If so how do I merge and fix? (Juggling between Apple and Microsoft is a pain in the #^%**. )
Tried that. That option only showed one duplicate which I chose to merge.
Now the ‘look for duplicates’ has completely disappeared. My contacts are still duplicated

Sorry, I don't know what else to suggest. I have no duplicates to remove or merge. You might want to reach out to Apple Support directly or visit your closest Apple Store Genius Bar. Or just do it manually and get rid of duplicates one by one.
So I spent hours doing it one by one merging and linking and ending up with no duplicates …. Only to find the next time I opened my contacts it had repopulated and was back to duplicates!
I discovered a lot of the duplicates were ‘empty’ and ‘found on the web’ I guess from social media?
So now I’m back where I started. Super frustrated.

I recommend backing up all these contacts on the ICloud website to a computer then downloading an App Store app that could help with that. Just search “Merge contacts” and download a bunch of them and see what works best
