First Time Machine Backup On New Mac Studio Delayed

Just set up new MacStudio and migrated from 2019 MacPro without any major issues (thanks to both the community and Apple tech support).

I have been using iCloud+ to sync keychain, settings, but particularly documents, pictures and downloads which consumes many megabytes.

Set up a new Time Machine backup but I cannot initialize the backup. Get message that backup delayed because iCloud has not finished syncing. In the tool bar my iCloud drive shows sync paused and I cannot find a way to resume it.

I tried turning off Desktop and Documents (about 125 gb) but then all of those files syncing to iCloud drive disappeared form Finder but they came back when I re-enabled it. I don't want to turn off iCloud drive because I read that would cause tremendous bandwidth congestion when re-enabled and it probably would also do something with my files.

I simply want to be able to run a Time Machine backup. I tried restarting computer and that did not change things. I did not restart in safe mode.

So need some help. Very concerned at not having a backup.

Log out of iCloud and log back in.

Stop fussing around and changing what iCloud is syncing.

Leave the Mac Studio on with the display off until the iCloud sync has completed.

Turning off, restarting, starting up in safe mode, just makes everything take that much longer.

Do not erase your 2019 Mac Pro, until you have the Mac Studio fully synced and backed up.
