music does not open CD when inserted into usb CD player - sequoia 15.3

New machine

Old machine would open and load CD into my music librbary

New machine does not.

What gives?

Music CDs will not play under OSX 13.4 External USB CD/DVD player/burner: If I load a disk, it shows on the desktop and in Music/iTunes, but it will not play. The cuts will copy to the computer but the play button does nothing. This is true on both a 2020 iMac and a month-old MacBook Pro, both running Ventura. The same CDs played perfectly on the iMac before I updated the OS to 13, so clearly it's something about Ventura. If there's a setting or something that enables CD-play, I'm missing it. But, it seems, so is the OS.

uploaded music won't play All music that I uploaded from CDs will not play in Apple Music on my iMac with Mac OS Catalina. I get message that computer is not registered. So I go through the process of registering it and get a new message stating that this computer is already tragestered. When I attempt to play the recording I get the same first message that computer is not registered. It's a never ending cycle of messages and I still can not play uploaded. Music was working fine and I do not know when this problem started but it was probably associated with an update from Apple.

Does the CD not appear in the Music App's side bar at all?

Does the CD appear in Finder?

If it does, can you double click it there?
