iCloud Passwords on Windows no longer autofilling in Microsoft Edge

When logging into a site on MS Edge, I can see the dropdown showing my email address in the login box, but when I click on it, nothing populates in the login or password fields. However if I click on the extension at the top of the screen, I can select the email from the dropdown there, and when I click it, it populates the fields. This used to work fine directly in the login and password fields. It messes with your workflow if you have to go to the top of the screen and click on the extension. I have everything turned on in iCloud for Windows.

What changed? Can this be fixed?
