Does this Mac have any value to trade up? Can I save all my photos if i trade up?

MacOS Monterey 12.6.1 no longer has all my photos I used to see all my photos in my library on all my devices. Now there is a new software update for MacOS I no longer see my photos. Instead I have a handy little message saying that if I want to see all my photos I need to update the software. But the software isn't available for my older but perfectly functional laptop. This feels like forced redundancy as it's just software not letting me see my library and not hardware. Does anyone else have a similar issue or a solution?

used migratkion assistant to set up new computer and I have a problem with photos on the new computer after using migration assistant to set up new macOS Monterey the photos on the new computer cannot be used, except to look at. Can that be fixed? Can I reverse the migration assistant somehow and start over?
