2023 M2 Max Studio Recognizes Extra Monitor when the Monitor is Off.

I have 3 monitors plugged into my M2 Max. #1 Wacom 24" touch connected to the back of the M2 via USB C port. #2 Ben Q 27" connected to USB Hub that is connected to one of my M2 back USB C ports. and #3 LG 32" Monitor HDMI connected right to the back of of the M2 HDMI out port.

The LG is normally off unless I am using OBS and recording my photo sessions and or Macro Studio Photo stuff. However, when i have the power off to the LG the M2 still recognizes it as active and I am able to move my moues off my other screen to that.

If my Ben Q is off I do not have that problem. I move the mouse to the left and it hard stops and wont go any further. Also when I go to the "Display setting" the Ben Q is not shown since it is off.

The LG is just a normal monitor with HDMI or the a display port hook up, NO USB C. This monitor is only used to stream movies when I am editing video or photos, as well as when I am using OBS i move the window to it so I can make sure everything is going good when recording from my canon R6 or R5 and Ben Q or overhead Cam.

This is what I think the issue is and please if some thinks otherwise or can confirm it let me know.

  1. Since the LG does not have USB C I am using the HDMI (M2 Max does not have a display port slot). Therefore since it is HDMI it will always show a connection to the M2 since it is only receiving the signal from the M2 HDMI all the time. So really the only way to stop the mouse from moving to that screen with turned off is to unplug the power cord.

If that is the case I will deal with it. But I was wondering (i will need to see if this is possible) if there is a display port cable to USB C, that I can use so when the monitor is off the M2 will recognize it and not allow my mouse to move off the main screen. OR.....does the display port just like the HDMI and is always accepting signal even when off?

Thank you for your time and insight on this.

What model is the LG 32" and/or what other video inputs does it support...?

You can test a short high speed USB-C to HDMI cable out to the 32" LG

for example: > https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DP8F8CG7/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?

or a short high speed USB-C to DisplayPort cable if the 32" LG supports DisplayPort input.

It‘s a LG UltraGear 32GN600. It only has HDMI and Display hookups.

By no means is it top or kid of the line for monitors. I just wanted something to stream while working as well as mov my OBS to when doing stuff. My wacom and Ben Q do the heavy lifting for anything editing, such as photos and videos.

Thanks for putting the links in for those two cables. I’m gonna give both a try well I’ll start with a one and see what that does and if not, I’ll get the other one and see how it goes.
