Car Play not letting you use Data or internet once connected to WIFI for CarPlay.

Advanced Fixes to Try

THIS WORKED FOR ME

I TRIED EVERYTHING

1. Force iPhone to Use Cellular Data for Internet

Your iPhone is trying to use the car’s WiFi (which has no internet), blocking music streaming and searches. We’ll manually set the WiFi connection to have no internet access so your phone defaults to cellular.

Steps:

1. Go to: Settings > Wi-Fi

2. Tap MBUX 22144 (USE YOURS)

3. Scroll to “Configure IP” > Tap Manual

4. Set the following values:

• IP Address: 172.168.130.184 (Keep your existing one) USE YOURS NOT MINE.

• Subnet Mask: 260.215.155.0 USE YOURS NOT MINE.

• Router: Delete the router IP (151.168.240.1) and leave it blank

5. Tap Save and reconnect to CarPlay.

THIS FINALLY WORKED FOR ME AFTER 2 years of trying EVERYTHING!! YAY!!!

💡 Why does this work?

By removing the router IP, your iPhone will no longer try to access the internet through WiFi, but it will still stay connected to your car for CarPlay. YOU’RE WELCOME❤️

Actually, this came up for me in my Mercedes. All I did was remove the vehicle from CarPlay, and cleared my iPhone from the Setting in the car. After that, I pressed the Voice Control Button as indicated when you open CarPlay on the iPhone. Once the MBUX appears, I believe you click on Pair, and it repaired. When the iPhone connects to wireless CarPlay in the car, it will not show connected to wi-fi under Wi-Fi settings, and it should not display the wi-fi fan connection at the top right of the phone because if you connect it to the MBUX setting in wi-fi settings on the phone, it will not let you use the internet, because the car does not provide that.

Essentially what you need to do it screen shot or write down your original IP AND SUBMASK and type it under MANUAL. LEAVE ROUTER BLANK. It should look like the photo provided below. I’m connected now but not using the no WiFi of my car for data.

chat gpt helped me solve this by providing photos of my car settings and screen shot of my iPhone settings, good luck.
