AppleTV 4K Stuck in Reboot Loop

I actually resolved this issue on my own, but it was an issue that I didn't see elsewhere. So, I thought I'd write it up in case others run into this. My AppleTV crashed and went into a reboot loop where it would get as far as the apple logo flashing on the screen briefly and then would immediately reboot. The light on the ATV would blink slowly and then like skip a beat when it restarted. I did the standard unplug and plug back in after 30 seconds (then a minute, then 30 minutes, just to be thorough) but it would just go straight into the same loop. I then tried forcing a reset from the remote by holding the button with the TV icon and the back arrow "<". This may have restarted the ATV, but didn't get it out of the loop, but oddly, the flashing light pattern on the ATV changed. At first it would be the same slow blink, but then – and I swear this is true – rapidly blink an SOS pattern before then restarting again. So, same reboot loop, but with the added SOS blinking.

With some more research, I found a post about the remote getting stuck (in that case it described the volume down being stuck such that one couldn't turn up the volume) and suggested taking the remote out of the room to see if it changed anything. And indeed it did. The ATV finished its reboot and the Home Screen then came back on and I could use the remote function on my iPhone to control the ATV with no problem. Then I brought the regular remote back into the room and the system crashed again. I again removed the remote and let the startup cycle finish and used the iPhone remote feature to go to settings and tell the ATV to forget the regular remote. So, the remote was no longer linked to the ATV. Brought the remote back into the room and it STILL crashed the ATV and sent it into the loop. (BTW, it also crashed a different ATV that it had never been paired to that was in the other room that I took it to.) So, it was clearly the remote sending a signal that was immediately crashing any ATV that was in range. I then reset the remote holding down the volume down and the button with the TV icon and the ATV stopped crashing, then re-paired the remote to the ATV and it has worked fine.

I really thought it was the ATV itself going haywire and really doubted that it could be the remote sending a kill signal of sorts, but glad I tried the simple step of taking the remote out of the room. I guess if there's a signal that the remote can send that restarts the ATV, then not that much of a stretch to think that that is the signal it could get stuck on. Very odd that it would send, or the ATV itself would start blinking an SOS pattern. I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere. Anyway, FYI in case it helps anyone.
