iTunes music is working fine but Library folder is empty

My iTunes application PLAYS most every song, but when I follow the steps (Edit / Preferences /"Current iTunes Media / Music") in my iTunes App. it points to:

"C:\Users\Bruce\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media"\Music" on my PC and when I follow that path ALL the folders have the band names but NO MP3 CONTENT whatsoever.

How can I find out where the ACTIVE library (which IS working) when iTunes only points to me to the Empty Folders ? I suspect the 'working music' is on my Seagate external drive and that if I disconnect it none of the iTunes songs will play, so . . . how do I identify the working Media folders ?

For any given track you can right-click on it and use Show in Explorer to see where it is stored. You can also use Ctrl+i and the File tab. I suspect you have what I call a split library, where the iTunes Library.itl database file is on your internal drive, but the music has been moved to an external drive. A bug in iTunes may reset the media folder to the default location on the internal drive even though your media is all stored elsewhere. See Make a split library portable - Apple Community for advice on getting the library into a self-contained layout on the external drive.
