Apple TV Android App "Unable to Play" error

Android Apple TV app, version 1.0.1


I'm unable to play tv shows or movies through my app. I started them previously on a TV or my iPad but they won't play on my Android phone, and only give my the "Unable to Play" error after a few seconds of repeated playtime (no new content, only playing a few seconds I've seen before).


I have a fairly good wifi connection but much better data connection. I have mobile data turned on and I have tried using both.


I have signed in and out, I have cleared my cache and force stopped my app. I have restarted my phone multiple times and uninstalled the app twice.


I can download the episode just fine, but playing the downloaded episode gives the same error.


The tv show plays fine on my iPad and TV.

I never have more than one screen playing at the same time.


Please help, this is very frustrating :(

Update: It seems to only happen if go forwards or backwards in the timeline. From that moment on I can't play the episode on my Android phone.


I have been getting around this by finishing the episode on my iPad, then watching the next one on my phone, remembering not touching the controls at all.


What a weird bug. Please let me know if I can do anything to fix it, or if I'm misunderstanding it somehow
