I’m tired of buying poor quality charger cables with poor connectors and poor joints, even ones that say they are strong and high speed.
What do people recommend that work well and last? I need

FWIW, I typically go with Apple charging cables as my first choice. Otherwise, as Rudegar has mentioned, Anker and Belkin would be good second choices.
The one thing this important is to verify that the cable is Mfi-certified if you plan on using them with your iPhone.

Thank you, really helpful. Trouble is Apple’s own cables function well but are not built to last. I’m pretty careful with my gear but the thin wire used usually starts coming away from the functional ends before that long. I’ve bought sturdy wired ones but the joins are often weak. Now I know the significance of the Mfi-cert, I’ll look out for that.
Sadly I fear it’s cost cutting or designed to make you keep buying more stuff, particularly Apple. At their device prices, they could do better

FWIW, my experience with Apple accessories has been 180º of yours. I have had, and still have, numerous Apple charging cables and never had any issues with them. However, they are not "military-grade" and certainly can fail even if you are careful. Most of mine are the "smooth-surfaced" ones as I only have seen Apple providing the "woven" ones more recently. Could be Apple "got the message" that folks were having issues with them.
