What happens if I click 'emergency override' on my water damaged iPhone?

I had gotten water in my phone and it had said liquid detected but I never clicked emergency override because I don’t know what it’s supposed to do or if it will charge or damage my phone or somthjng

The Emergency Override will bypass the liquid detection alert and charge your iPhone. You should only do this in an absolute emergency otherwise continue to let your iPhone dry out. By the way you can still charge your iPhone wirelessly.

My recommendation would be to power off the phone.....if it is on....and let the phone dry out for at least 2 days. Do NOT put the phone in rice.


Power up the phone after the drying out period and check to see if the phone is operating normally. If you see any messages about water damage, power off the phone and post back the exact text of the message(s) that appear.
