Can AirPods Pro 2 be used as hearing aids in the UK?

Just seen the feature Hearing Test advertised to run on iOS 18 with the iPod Pro 2 - test looks basic, but sufficient, but couldn't find anything out about the Hearing Aid feature in the UK. Is that because it still isn't available?

If it is available, I was wondering what it's capabilities were in comparison with the standard hearing aid. Reason being, our mother has deteriorating hearing and has just had a trial of hearing aids costing £4,000+ - obviously, if the noise cancelling and other features on the iPod can work just as well, they're a snip at £229.

Any advice welcome.
