Sometimes siri doesn't respond at all, other times Siri acts like it will but doesn't respond (most often error) sometimes siri will type the command on the screen and turns off without completing the command. When siri acts like it will respond but just has the swirl at the bottom of the screen and turns off, it takes a long time to respond to either siri or hey siri.

Take it back. Youtube has the same videos for iPhone 13, 14, and 15. It does not mean it is a problem with the iPhone 16, it is just the latest phone to get you to view their videos for upvotes and web traffic. There may be a problem with yours though.
Let’s be clear: you have a problem with your phone. The other 100 million users of iPhone 16s do not have this problem, so you should troubleshoot it. Start by going to Settings/Apple Intelligence & Siri and turn off Apple Intelligence. Then restart your phone, and turn it back on. Re-train it if it asks you to.
I have looked at YouTube to solve this problem they all say a combination of what I tried already of exactly everything I have tried. The phone is less than a month old and never dropped or otherwise damaged. In fact, it acted as I have described, strait out of the box.
Turn Siri off in Settings, then turn it back on to go through the set up process again. Test both when connected to Wifi and also Cellular to see if there is a difference.

This community was the final recourse before taking the phone back. Siri on my iphone 13 worked great except for maybe misunderstanding which of my contacts I was attempting to communicate with.
