You need not reset your device. Toggling Airplane mode On and off is enough.

  1. SMS (Text Messaging)
    1. SMS does not require a cellular/mobile data plan. It works over the standard cellular network using the carrier’s voice infrastructure, not internet-based data.
    2. You only need a cellular signal (from 2G onward) for SMS to function. Even if your phone’s mobile data is turned off, you can still send and receive SMS as long as there is network coverage.
  2. Messenger (Facebook)
    1. Facebook Messenger is an internet-based app, so it requires an active data connection (via mobile data or Wi-Fi).
    2. A SIM card alone (without a data plan) will not allow Messenger to work unless the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
    3. While Messenger works on 3G, 4G, or 5G, some features (like video calls) may require at least 4G for a smooth experience.

So, in summary:

  • SMS works with only a cellular signal, no data plan needed.
  • Facebook Messenger requires a data connection (mobile data or Wi-Fi).
