No timer on brand new homepod

From startup, our brand new HomePod will not set a timer. She says, “one moment.” “Still working.” Then finally, “something’s taking a little too long here.” Then she goes black. Anyone know what to try?

This is usually a temporary issue that occurs from time to time. Of course it can also be it’s briefly disconnecting from the internet so you might also try rebooting your wifi. Also try making your request by pressing the top of the HomePod to summon Siri. One of the Mic’s inside might not be hearing you well enough. Try moving it or twisting it a quarter turn to have the mic’s better able to hear better. Make sure another object nearby isn’t blocking it. Try to give it some breathing room

See if after doing these steps if it improves.
