Wake With Bluetooth / Mouse

I went to look at something on my MacMini , when I tapped the space bar

( or any other keys) it wouldn't wake up . I have a wireless mouse & keyboard working with Bluetooth , the mouse wouldn't wake it either .

The white numbered keys are lit up ~ are they supposed to be ? The green light on the mouse goes on and the monitor's blue light in the lower right corner is on .

The Mac was updated 2 or 3 days ago , I'm having difficulty determining if I screwed up the Mac somehow , if it's a Bluetooth issue or the mouse needs its batteries changed ?

I don't believe that I have used wired accessories since the Mountain Lion & Snow Leopard days ! I'm going to change the batteries & hope that it wakes up ~ if it

doesn't , I will head over to Apple Support for Mac .

Thanks so much for the quite speedy response … your reply came three minutes after I posted ! Record time for sure .

😖 It was on the screen saver , I hit the space bar to wake it and it's not working again !

The MacMini gray box , is the light on it supposed to be white ?

The monitor blue light is blinking now ? I don't remember how they looked before .

After the on/ off , at least I had it awake with a frozen cursor , now I'm back to where I started .

I use my iPad most of the time , but I will need for this problem to be solved eventually .
