How can I view albums by artist in Apple Music?

Up until recently, when I would go to my library in apple music it would show a list of artists, and then when selecting an artist show their albums, similar to column view in the finder. Now it's a grid of album artwork that is completely useless if you have more than 10 or so albums in your library.

how do i switch back?

Try hovering to the right of the word Library in the side bar, tap Edit when you see it. Enable the different views of the library that you want. Then tap Done. Pretty sure you've described the Artists view.
