What do you mean that your phone was given a passcode? If you forgot your passcode, see here: If you forgot your iPhone passcode or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
Tap Settings
Tap Face ID & Passcode
Tap Turn Passcode Off
Unfortunately, now anyone who picks up your phone will have access to all of your personal data on the phone
Here, I am assuming that you know the Passcode. If what you are really saying is that you forgot your Passcode....then you will need to use this Apple Support document to reset your Passcode.
If you forgot your iPhone passcode or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
This will erase all of the data on your iPhone, but you can restore from your current backup.
