Wide-angle camera problem 13 pro max

After the iOS 18 update the wide-angle camera (0.5x) does not work, in portrait mode the normal mode (1x) does not work, and in portrait mode the video shooting is very strange (1x) it shoots too close.

You may want to try a forced restart and if that doesn’t work I’d try resetting all settings. It will put all your settings for various Apple features back to their default settings.

Video does not have a portrait mode. It’s called Cinematic. Is that what you’re referring to?

What happens in photo mode when you press .5X?

Hello.

When I select video in portrait I have the mode of 1x and 3x. The 1x mode shoots closer than before.

In the photo in 0.5x mode nothing happens at all, it automatically changes to 1x.

When the photo is portrait in 1x mode it also automatically changes to 3x

What will happen to my data, gallery, apps if I reset my phone to factory settings? Will I lose everything? I've never done this before.

Portrait mode is photo only. You cannot shot video in Portrait mode.

In Portrait mode you cannot use .5X because of extreme barrel distortion ultra wide angle lenses produce. You’re limited to 1X and higher in Portrait mode.

A portrait effect is available in Cinematic mode when shooting video. You cannot use .5X in Cinematic mode. You must use 1X or higher in Cinematic mode.

I don’t think you need to reset anything. I think you need to learn your camera better.
