Apple Pencil pro randomly stops working

I got the new Ipad Air 6 and Apple Pencil Pro about 3 weeks ago. For the first 2 weeks it worked perfectly, but sometimes it suddenly stops (only the haptic feedback works). It charges, it is connected, and the tip isn’t loose (I tried screwing it off and back on, reconnecting it, but still happens). After 3-4 minutes it works fine again, but for the money (and since I use it for note taking), I’d expect it to work flawlessly.

Anyone has the same issue/has a solution? If so, I’d appreciate if you could share it, because I’d love to avoid having to buy a new one.

Apple Pencil Pro randomly stopping work is often fixable without replacement. Common solutions from users with similar issues:

1. Force re-pair the Pencil

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth > (i) icon next to Pencil > Forget This Device
  • Reattach it magnetically to re-pair

2. Check for interference

  • Remove magnetic cases/accessories near the iPad's edge
  • Ensure Bluetooth isn’t overloaded with other devices

3. Update software

  • Install latest iPad OS updates (Settings > General > Software Update)

4. Reset network settings

  • Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset Network Settings (back up first)

If problems persist, contact Apple Support for potential hardware diagnostics. Many users resolve this through re-pairing and tip adjustments, avoiding replacement.
