Apple Maps has started giving worse directions

The attached screen shot is from one of two incidents today where the map program gave mutually exclusive directions it seems to stem from apple generalizing group sets of exits to be named after the right most exit. This is new I have never noticed this before on the same route.

FWIW, I was in Austin and Houston the past few days and noticed several instances of similar “mis-behavior” of iOS Maps.

Specifically … while the on-map routing (i.e. the blue line) was always correctly displayed …

… the verbiage — and therefore the voice direction — did not always match reality.

Two notable examples:

Voice & Text direction was given to “Turn onto 183 North” — but the actual mapped route was to turn onto 183 Southbound.

Voice and Text direction to “Exit onto 130 toward Austin” — but the actual exit signage only presented two options: San Antonio or Waco.

As a consequence, one really needs to study the map prior to navigating interchanges; generally not a good practice for the driver.
