Mac mini disconnecting from iPhone during continuity setup

on my old iMac, when i used my phone and selected iMac to connect, the touchpad and volume etc would appear on your iMac's screen, no issues. now that i have a new mac mini, when i select mac mini on my phone, the call just disconnects!!!

"Allow accessory to connect?" flashes up and disappears before I can allow an iPhone to connect I can no longer connect my iPad or iPhone to my MacBook Air. When I connect the cable, the "Allow accessory to connect ?" panel flashes on the screen and is gone in about a tenth of a second. I only know that's the panel because I did a screen recording to capture it. This s the first time I've had any problems hooking up my iOS devices to my MacBook. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Continuity features doesn't work after waking from sleep Universal Clipboard, AirDrop, Handoff, and Instant Hotspot from iPhone to Mac doesn't work after waking Mac from sleep. I can resolve it by turning Bluetooth off and on on my Mac, but it's not a solution. My Mac: MacBook Pro 13' 2015 i5 macOS 12.6.1 My iPhone: iPhone XS iOS 16.1.1 I know my Mac is not supported anymore but I think if this was the issue Continuity shouldn't work at all.
