Why am I getting an access denied error when trying to import CD into Apple Music on my Mac mini?

Trying to import a CD into Music on a new Mac mini I get the error message "The file [name] couldn't be converted. Access to the source volume was denied. Check the system settings for removable volume access". I've followed instructions to make sure removable volumes is checked in Settings/Privacy & Security/ Files & Folders/Music.

Can anyone help please?
