Yes


… with the caveat that the phone can NOT be “Carrier Locked” to any particular carrier.

Yes, if your iPhone is not carrier-locked. Go to Settings/About and see Carrier Lock. If it says No SIM Restrictions, then you can have a number with any carrier that supports eSIM. Further, you can have multiple eSIMs installed (up to 8), and any two of them can be active simultaneously. Here are the details→Using Dual SIM with an eSIM - Apple Support
