Is the iPhone 16 pro battery life bad or is it my phone?

Just bought a brand new iPhone 16 pro a couple of days ago but I have noticed the battery life isn’t great.

I have come from an iPhone 13 with 75% battery health and they battery life seems almost similar! I have lost 40% battery on 3.5 hours screen time.

is the battery life bad on iPhone 16 pros or is it a fault in my phone? Or is there a new feature which drains the battery that I can turn off? I’m really starting to regret the purchase now!!

I remember when I first got my iPhone 13 and the battery would last a couple of days, but the iPhone 16 pro hasn’t even been lasting a full day! I’ve turned off unnecessary location services and the screen brightness, I don’t know what else to do. Thanks in advance.

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

My iPhone 16 Pro Max has the best battery performance of any iPhone I’ve owned. It’s certainly the best of any of the iPhone Pro models and I’ve owned them all. Let’s take a look at what apps are using your battery capacity on a daily and long term basis. I’m please share screenshots of your battery usage by app and activity by app. Here’s mine for last 24 hours and 10 days.

Yes it’s odd as I have turned off background refresh for all apps as well.

It does seem like Spotify may be the issue but I’m not sure why!

I do use Spotify a lot as I work from home, but I’m not using anymore than usual and it seems to be draining my battery a lot more than I believe it should be. I have lost 40% charge today in 5 hours, this is only slightly better than when I was using my iPhone 13 with 78% capacity. Not sure what’s going wrong..

Background refresh is a two way service, push and pull. When you disable background service on your iPhone, you are disabling the app from pulling data off servers. However, apps can still have data pushed to them. If you look at the email usage it’s 43+ hours of background usage. I’m not up all night checking my email. That’s email being pushed to my iPhone.

Post the same screenshot as the OP to show battery usage by app for the last 24 hours. Meta has updated many of their apps in the last 2 days and the results of those updates have not been determined. If you have any of those apps, that would be the first place to look. It could be Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, or WhatsApp and Meta has already identified a problem with battery usage in a previous update of their apps. You will find each of those apps has been updated 10 times in just the last month, so any sudden change in performance would likely be due to one of those updates.
