Trying to connect 20 inch Apple Cinema Display to 2019 16" MacBook Pro

Current setup is a 50" Sony 4k along with a MacBook Pro all connected to each other with an anker dock and powered by an Apple 140 power supply. Works quite well except there are times the 16" retina display is just too small. Before I spend the money for a new 20"-22" monitor display, I thought I'd try to use an old 20" Apple Cinema Display. M9177LL/A A1081. (I'm somewhat limited in desk space) I've tried using a bidirectional DVI-D to HDMI Male to Female Adapter along with an adaptor and HMDI cable. That results in the Sony not showing up at all and the 20" Cinema Display flashing when connected to the dock. Also tried a HDMI to usb-c directly into the mac. Get an alert regarding the usb connection using too much power?

There seems a lot of differing

suggestions out in cyberspace. What I really need is a definite fix.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

That explained "the low voltage" in the peripheral issues (in your case, that is the display).

Bus powered (in short - no extra power) hub draws power from the laptop and can be iffy in terms of the type of device and amount of device.

Since you have already known the "power draw" issue - you might want to get a hub with external power adapter. In my case, I use both OWC and Caldigit Thunderbolt 4 hub on my home systems.
