CarPlay doesn't work after iOS 18.3 update

Since the update on 2/11/2025 apple CarPlay does not work in my car. I have turned my iPhone on and off - removed it from my car - removed my car from my phone and reconnected and it still does not work. It looks like it is connected - but there is no volume when I play music or an audiobook. I have no idea how to make it work. My car does not support wireless - one of the things I am most disappointed in for my 2024 Volvo . . . . but I have tried different cords and nothing. I am so sad. Does anyone know what to do besides wiping your phone clean. I just got a new 16 pro max in January . . . . . and everything worked fine before this update.

I'm on 16 Pro Max and mine started being wonky during 18.2. I was hoping 18.3 would fix it but no luck......After about 15 seconds or so, it crashes the car system. The car system will then reboot and reconnect to the Phone and then it will crash the Car system again after 15 seconds or so.

I spent $175 on Truck updates thinking that could be the problem. Didn't work.

I spent over an hour with Support thinking they could help me. They didn't. Most of the stuff they had me do I had already done before giving them a call. Their final answer was to wipe and restore the phone and hope that it fixes everything. I did that last night but am not hopeful as I found out my wife was having the same problem with her 16 with her CarPlay................(which means it is not just my phone. It's the Operating System).

I finally got mine to work. After EVERYTHING they told me to do and stuff that I did before reaching out to them......I had to do a full reset of my phone - Not a Restore - Clean install. It worked after that. Huge pain in the rear but I finally deleted a bunch of old apps I wasn't using anymore and other things. I hate having to do it but every once in a while, no matter how much I hate it, it helps to clean a lot of old stuff up and rework things for better efficiency.

Hi! Did you try using a new cable? I would definitely recommend trying that first and then report back here!

new cord didn't work for me. I just had to do a clean install....not a restore.

What is a clean install? It sounds like a lot of work . . . .

I have wasted time and money buying expensive cables and nothing works!!! Apple dropped the ball on this one big time.

GOOD NEWS! Deleting the phone from car play and adding it back did the trick using the same old cable.
