iPad Screen keyboard fails to show up

Often the keyboard does not show up, I Was trying to search email. Yes ai can reboot but this is most inconvenient and has NOT BEEN FIXED FOR SEVERAL YEARS. Ai did show up so it could fix the typing but no typing could be done since the keyboard did not come up. Nothing just works anymore.
