Hi there Debbiedoll3,

We understand you're having some issues with the on-screen keyboard in the Mail app on your iPad, and we'd like to help out.

Is this only affecting the Mail app? If you haven't already, test Pages or Notes to see if you get the same result. That will help in narrowing this down a bit.

It might also help to try closing the Mail app and then re-opening it, as this can sometimes resolve unexpected issues with the interface: Quit and reopen an app on iPad - Apple Support

If an app isn’t responding, you can quit it and then reopen it to try and resolve the issue. (Typically, there’s no reason to quit an app; quitting it doesn’t save battery power, for example.)

To quit an app, open the App Switcher, then swipe up on the app.
To reopen the app, go to the Home Screen (or the App Library), then tap the app.

If that doesn't help, Restart your iPad and then test the Mail app again. Restarting steps vary by model, so check out the link for the best guidance.

If the issue persists, please let us know, and include your iPad model and iPadOS version as found under Settings > General > About.

Take care.
