How do I mute specific apps on iPad for better multitasking?

I am looking for the ability to mute individual apps. I do not mean notifications. I want to mute the ability for any sounds the app may want to play.

Example of the situation:

I am playing music using Safari or Audible while playing a video game. Some video games will interrupt music/audio book thus making it impossible to perform two activities because apps compete over who should play music.

the ability to watch video without sound while listening to your favorite music or audiobook without having to listen to native sounds from app is critical. For example, I am listening to the music while reading captions instead of the sound the video provides (YouTube, etc.).

I’m afraid that at this point there is no way to do that.

It’s a good idea, so I suggest you submit it as a feature request on Apple’s feedback page.
