I cannot add a printer in my Mac Mini

Hello,

I just bought and configured a Mac Mini M4. I was able to add three printers to it without any problem. Now I'm trying to install a Brother VC-500W label writer but when I click on the "add printer" button nothing happens.

The printer is connected via USB but I'm unable to reachi via Wi-Fi as well.

I don't know what else do.

Any suggestion?

Thank you

The Brother VC-500W is listed as a supported model in About AirPrint - Apple Support (en-us edition, January 13, 2025). This should mean that it is compatible with the latest macOS version (without the need for additional drivers), at least if the printer is connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router) as the Mac mini.

You may also want to have a look at the following article:

It may be wise to investigate whether a printer firmware update has been made available.

First of all, would it be correct to assume that the new Mac mini now is properly connected to a Wi-Fi router, and that you can access the Internet from that Mac?

At least according to the https://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=vc500weus&ftype3=100097&faqid=faqp00100017_005 link in my previous reply, the Wi-Fi connection method for the VC-500W is a bit complicated. It says under For Mac 6. that "Your printer is now temporarily connected directly to your computer without the wireless router/access point (Wireless Direct mode)". The final goal via the following section and Web Based Management is to use infrastructure mode (the Wi-Fi router). Did you follow that exact method (for Mac) step by step?

Yes, a firmware update would require a working Wi-Fi connection.

If necessary, contact the printer manufacturer for help.
