2020 iMac rebooting after Sequoia 15.2 upgrade

I upgraded my iMac to Sequoia 15.2 yesterday and now it reboots anywhere from 15-60 seconds after log in. I have turned off extensions, I have uninstalled unused applications, I have stopped unnecessary applications from starting up, I have ran health checks, and reinstalled Sequoia from recovery. I have had zero luck solving this problem. It works fine in safe mode. It does have boot camp and the Windows side works fine.

Please create your own thread and post your EtreCheck report in that thread. What you are doing is called thread jacking and is considered rude because it attempts to take over an existing thread and just confuses the issue. I am dead sure that isn't your intent and I think you will see why it necessary for you to have your own thread. Once you do create it and add your report, experienced users will be happy to analyze it for you.

There are several things I see in your EtreCheck report that are alarming:


  1. No backup, this is a critical error and a 100% guarantee. you will lose data. At the very very least Time Machine should be hooked up and backing up the computer on a daily basis.
  2. The computer has a LOT of third party apps on it and I'd be willing to bet that many of them are simply out-of-date and need to be updated. This can cause the KP's your computer has been experiencing.
  3. In addition to #2 you have never upgraded the RAM, all of those apps consume RAM and you simply do not have enough installed. Contact OWC at www.macsales.com and buy an addition 16-32GB of RAM, do not buy any other brands because iMacs are VERY sensitive to using quality RAM and OWC has about the best out there. Simply populate the empty slots and ensure they bedded firmly and it's done. OWC has install videos if necessary. 32 GB is only $60 and can be found by clicking:

It also takes about 30 button-presses to get it to start. I've lost a Word document that I have worked on for hours because of this same issue and am going mad. I tried to restore the OS to its original and got an error code. I am not a tech person at all and have no idea how to look for code or whether to trust answers below that tell me to upload software. I already went to the Genius Bar for this issue 6 weeks ago and they physically cleaned under my keyboard because it was getting hot. Do I go to the Genius Bar again even though this is a software issue?

EtreCheck was developed by a trusted developer and has been used by thousands of users to safely diagnose their systems. If you do not want to use it that is of course your choice however all you have posted is a KP report. That report tells us nothing at all. Because KP’s can be caused by either hardware or software and can be difficult to diagnose I asked for an EtreCheck report to see if there is something installed in the computer that is causing the problem. If you do not want to post the report, that is okay however there won’t be thing we can do t help you out.

What I don’t understand is that I removed most of those apps when this error started so I don’t see them on the computer itself, just on the Etre report. Am I totally missing how to uninstall them? Also, the installation date for those apps is not accurate. It says a lot of them were installed within the last couple of months. However, most of them were installed long before that. This is not our primary machine so I’m not concerned about data loss but I do appreciate your advice on the back up.


I may just to a complete wipe and reinstall unless there is something else I can do to clean those apps up.

It will help us get a good idea of what is causing your problem if you provide a report of your system, that way we do not have to play 20 questions with you.
