Macbook screen mirroring not working

Hi all, I came across a rather strange issue with my macbook (M1 pro) and they are as below:

  • Screen mirroring my ipad doesn't work - I get an error message 'Unable to connect to XXX ipad. The iCloud account does not use two-factor authentication'. I checked and I have two-factor authentication turned on.
  • Iphone mirroring doesn't work. I get an error message 'Unable to connect to iPhone'.
  • Even third party screen mirroring software doesn't work.

I made sure Handoff setting for Macbook is correctly set up, my ipad, iphone, macbook all have logged on to the same iCloud account, are on the same Wi-Fi and have bluetooth turned on. Also all the software are up to date.

What's interesting is, I recently switched from Macbook Pro M2 to Macbook Pro M1 and all of the issues I'm currently having didn't exist with the previous one.

I'm assuming there's something wrong with screen mirroring feature as a whole and all of the solutions I could find on the internet didn't work.

Can someone please help me with this?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.2
