Unable to make in-app purchases on iPad after iPadOS 18.2 update

I have done all the usual troubleshooting things like close the app down and restart iPad, I have deleted the app and reinstalled after starting iPad and still each time I try to make in app purchases through games I keep getting greyed out loading sign that never goes away. I have $160.00 in my apple account so that is not the issue. This only happened after I upgraded the iOS 3days ago.

So basically, if you don’t have an iPhone as well as an iPad there is NO solution, unless Apple decide to fix the bug 😟 And BTW…..yes, I have tried every hint & tip I’ve read regarding this issue !!! And again, I had NO ISSUES with in-app purchases prior to updating!!!!

Assuming that your iPad is not centrally managed by an Educational Establishment or Business (as the device may be remotely managed) - if you are experiencing difficulties with adding, updating/removing Apps from your iPad, or making in-App purchases, you’ll need to check your ScreenTime restrictions:

  • Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Adding Apps - set to Allow
  • Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Deleting Apps - set to Allow
  • Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > In-app Purchases - set to Allow

Actually didn’t get to the bottom of why I can’t do in app purchases through the Travel Town game on my iPad which I had no issues with before the recent iOS update but during a chat session with Apple tech support, I was asked to do a network reset on my iPhone. Seeing as apps are synced between phone and iPad I was asked if I had the game on my iPhone. I didn’t because I don’t like to clutter my phone with game apps. But I downloaded loaded it just to try and see if the same issue happened on the iPhone. It didn’t and in app purchasing was successful. Once purchase is complete on the phone, it registers in the app on my iPad. So it’s not an ideal resolution, but it is a workaround.
