Picture in Picture not working on ipad

I just got a new iPad Air M2 chip after not having an iPad for a couple years. And when watching videos and switching through apps I noticed the videos don’t minimize and continue to play in the corner of my screen like they do on my phone. After looking into it I toggled with the Picture in Picture setting on my iPad and it still doesn’t work on my YouTube videos or any videos at that. I restarted and updated my iOS to iOS 18.2.1 and nothing is working. Some helpppp.

The behaviour that you describe is almost entirely due to the App that you are using - and is unrelated to your iPad's picture-in -picture capabilities. App Developers often code their Apps to work slightly differently between iOS for iPhone with its small screen and iPadOS for iPad where the screen is considerably larger.

Youtube is one App that, over time, has become somewhat less intuitive to use - with some features only being available to Youtube Subscribers. If instead you access Youtube using your Safari (or other) browser App, you will be able to playback video in a small window.
