Cannot setup apple pay on mac without magic keyboard

I am trying to setup apple pay on my m2pro mac mini - When trying to setup apple pay by adding a card I get an error saying I cannot -

Surely there is a way to setup apple pay without requiring an apple keyboard, I don't have one, nor wish to get buy one, they are not ergonomic. I often need to use my 2FA on my iphone for various verification processes with apple, surely this could do the same?

Any help - I cannot find any support docs that discuss this?

The banks require biometric authentication be on the device before they’ll permit their cards to be added to Apple Wallet.

>>On Mac models without built-in Touch ID, you can complete your purchase using Apple Pay on your compatible iPhone or Apple Watch: On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and turn on Allow Payments on Mac.<<
