Apple Pay doesn't work on my computer

I'm using Safari Version 17.1.2 (19616.2.9.11.12) on a Macbook Air M1 laptop. Every time I try to pay using ApplePay via Safari, it will not go through.

I can use ApplePay on my iPhone in a store.

What do I need to do to make it work on my computer?

MacBook Air 11″, OS X 10.10

Thanks for your reply. My credit card is already linked to ApplePay. I have Allow Payments on Mac in my iPhone 13 Pro Settings Wallet & Apple Pay. I don't use Touch ID on my Mac, just a passcode. I wonder if the fact that my Macbook Air with M1 chip is a Touch ID device is why I can't use Apple Pay on it. Whenever I try, it asks for Touch ID. Because I don't use Touch ID, the request to use ApplePay doesn't go through and then I have to enter my credit card info if I want to make the purchase.

Were you successful in adding your credit/debit card to your Mac? Apple has the following set of steps in the support document

Add cards for Apple Pay - Apple Support

How to add a debit or credit card for Apple Pay on your Mac or iPad

  1. Open Wallet settings on your device.
  • On your Mac model with Touch ID, go to System Preferences > Wallet & Apple Pay.
  • On your iPad, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.

2.Tap Add Card.

3.Follow the steps on the screen to add a card.

4.Verify your information with your bank or card issuer. They might ask you to provide information.

On Mac models without built-in Touch ID, you can complete your purchase using Apple Pay on your compatible iPhone or Apple Watch: On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay and turn on Allow Payments on Mac.

It may have something to do with your security settings. I discovered this when I was using Apple Pay on my MacBook and it asked me to finish the process on my iPhone. After some research, I learned that something had happened that changed my security settings. The solution was to reset the MacBook's security settings to the highest level. Worked like a charm. Apparently this solves other ApplePay issues as well. About Startup Security Utility on a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip - Apple Support
