iMovie does not open on MacBook Air after macOS Catalina update

Apple updated my Macbook air to Catalina and now iMovie doens't open. How do I reload it and not lose my work?

Launch the App Store. Search for iMovie and update and/or re-download it from there.

Your iMovie files and folders will remain on your Mac.
