Podcast app does not mark episode as played

On the way to work, I play some of a podcast. Then on the way back, I play the rest of it. When I check the app after, it shows only the amount it played in the first instance, not that it has been played completely. When I sync with iTunes (on a Windows machine), I have to manually mark the episode as "played" and mark it for deletion.

Any ideas on how to make the app have a correct representation of what has been played and how much?

Apple Podcasts app will sometimes delete all my downloaded episodes I'm old school (and just plain old), so the way I manage podcasts is by downloading them in iTunes (on Windows) and then syncing it to my iPhone. Works really well. I like knowing exactly what I have available to listen to. If I finish an episode, I delete it in iTunes, and then it'll be removed from my phone next time I sync it. But I noticed recently that on seemingly random occasions, I'll go the Library -> Downloaded section of the app and it'll be completely empty! If I connect it to iTunes and sync, it'll copy all my episodes over, as if they were never copied over before. I think one time this might have corresponded with an iOS update, but two other times, it just happened over night when no update that I know of was installed. Anyone experience this or know if this is a known bug?

Played podcast episodes not being removed after update to 18.4 After updating IOS 18.4 the Apple Podcasts app is not removing played episodes. In Podcasts settings I have the "Remove Played Episodes" selected and this has always worked in the past. Since this update, I now have to manually remove played episodes

Apple Podcast incorrectly marks episodes as played Something weird is happening with Apple Podcasts since the iOS 18 update. After I finish an episode, it automatically jumps to a different episode, puts it in play mode without actually starting it, and then marks it as played. This is super frustrating because I usually hide played episodes, and now it's hiding episodes I haven’t even listened to. Can someone at Apple please support me with this?
