Blue status bar with gear and rotating arrows?

Appeared on iPhone SE2, iOS 18.2 while scrolling through social media comments in Safari over LTE. Nothing plugged in, not screen mirroring or hotspotting, automatic updates off, location services off, etc. etc. No apps running in the background afaict.

I then closed Safari, turned on Airplane mode, yet blue bar + symbol remained. Tapping the bar did nothing. Rebooted the phone and it went away.

Never seen this before in my life. Kind of creeped out. Any ideas?

Still rather unnerved about this. The symbol doesn’t appear in Apple’s official list of status bar symbols.

To improve my understanding of the phenomenon, it would be highly beneficial if you could share a full screenshot (Do not crop it). Visual representations carry a greater impact than written descriptions.

Please remember that this is a public forum, so when attaching a screenshot, please avoid including any personal credentials such as IP addresses, card details, email IDs, Apple IDs, IMEI numbers, serial numbers, phone numbers, order IDs, or any identifiable location information if you are sharing a map.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.
