Unable to disable Siri in iCloud on iPhone 15 with iOS 18.2

i tried to disable Siri in iCloud but the below steps do not work

Settings > Siri & Search > Siri & Dictation History and delete the history from there. Once that's been deleted, go back to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Storage > Disable Siri.

i have also tried restarting my phone several times but still not working.

I am also running iOS 18.2

I have the same issue.

iOS 18.2.1

iPhone 14 Pro Max

Condition:

Siri shows "Others - 1 of 2" in iCloud > Manage Storage > Siri though I never turned it on

The steps I followed:

    • Settings > Apple Account, iCloud, and more > iCloud > Storage > Siri > Disable and Delete
      • Result: spinner just spins
    • Signed out of iCloud and signed back in
      • Result: repeated above step after signing in and same result

I never activated Siri so it appears to have turned on when 18.2 or 18.2.1 update. The setting the appears to be automatically on with the update is in Search "Help Apple Improve Search". I don't recall seeing that before, though surely I would have turned off if I did. Everything under Settings > Search is off, including in each app listing on the Settings > Search screen.

I may just sign out of iCloud on the phone until this gets resolved. Though I generally trust Apple, data breaches are the norm.

"I have contacted Apple and this is a bug in the OS, Apple is now aware and hopefully will fix this bug"

Excellent Job Troubleshooting!

They are likely to fix this in the update release to come. So, wait it out.

Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Though you've already contacted Apple Support, provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Troubleshooting SIRI Issues:

A. Start here: If "Hey Siri" isn't Working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

B. Restore your iPhone from a Backup:

Have any backups of this iPhone prior to this occurrence? If so, restore your iPhone from one that has these photos (the most recent backup, ideally). If not, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always back up your device for recovery purposes. Important: Back up you iPhone prior to performing this restoration, should anything go wrong from here on out.
